![]() It may have taken five years for Symphony X to return with Paradise Lost, but it's been well worth the wait. Paradise Lost is a change of direction for Symphony X from The Odyssey, but for all the heaviness and aggression that can be heard, the melodic nature of Allen's vocals and the quality of Romeo's song writing and his skills on the guitar still shine through. Finishing up the album in typical Symphony X fashion is the epic Revelation (Divus Pennae Ex Tragoedia), a track in which Romeo, Pinnella and Rullo all have their respective moments of glory, without overshadowing the strong basis of the song itself. Paradise Lost doszo do 123 miejsca na licie Billboard Top 200 album chart w USA sprzedajc si w 6,300 kopiach w pierwszym tygodniu sprzeday. Podczas tej trasy Symphony X po raz pierwszy zagra w Polsce (2 padziernika 2007). The title track Paradise Lost and The Sacrifice are the ballads offered this time around, with both of the efforts providing Allen the opportunity to show off his impressive range and the emotion contained in his voice, while the stunning Eve Of Seduction, Seven (Rullo practically dominates on this number) and the choral enhanced The Walls Of Babylon all steer more towards the progressive side of Romeo's style of song writing. Poza samodzielnymi wystpami, Symphony X bdzie wystpowao w roli supportu przed Dream Theater. The straightforward groove influenced Domination maintains the album's heavier tone with some touches of neo-classical (In the Malmsteen sense) heard within Romeo's runs throughout the song, while Serpent's Kiss follows a similar line, with the brief choral piece around the halfway mark adding an interesting progressive tinge to things. Although he does make way for some soaring clean efforts through the huge melodic choruses, he predominantly sticks to the aggressive side of things for the majority of the song, which in turn gives Symphony X a heaviness that was only hinted at on The Odyssey. But what really adds to the intensity of the track is Allen's equally aggressive vocal delivery. Romeo is certainly the star of the show on Set The World On Fire, with his heavy riffing and impressive solos setting a heavy tone for the remainder of the album. ![]() Symphony X (Who are vocalist Russell Allen, guitarist/principal songwriter Michael Romeo, bassist Mike LePond, keyboardist Michael Pinnella and drummer Jason Rullo) open up with the album in a foreboding manner with the dark symphonic instrumental Oculus Ex Inferni, which provides the perfect introduction to the equally dark Set The World On Fire. Based around the themes featured within John Milton's seventeenth century novel of the same name (The familiar tales surrounding the battle between good and evil), the group's seventh full-length effort 'Paradise Lost' boasts a newfound heavier and aggressive direction, all the while coming across as one of the band's most accessible releases to date. Overdue and taking a slight change in directionįor what seemed to be bordering on all eternity, New Jersey progressive power metal act Symphony X have finally delivered the long awaited follow up to 2002's critically acclaimed The Odyssey.
